Description
Description
Create staff badges, visitor passes and membership cards when you need them. The Evolis Zenius 2 combines single-sided colour printing, straightforward card handling and rewrite capability in a compact desktop printer. It is a practical choice for small and medium card runs, with Classic and Expert versions to suit different ways of working.
Clear photos, readable text and efficient printing
Colour dye-sublimation creates photographs and logos, while resin thermal transfer produces monochrome text and barcodes. Edge-to-edge printing helps you make full use of the card design. The printer supports standard 300 dpi output and enhanced modes for finer detail. Manufacturer-rated speeds reach 180 colour cards or 700 monochrome cards per hour; actual throughput depends on the design, ribbon, settings and any encoding.
Reuse temporary cards with rewrite printing
For visitor passes and other credentials that change regularly, use compatible rewritable cards to erase and update the printed information. This can reduce the number of replacement cards you need for temporary use. Rewrite operation requires dedicated rewritable media; ordinary PVC cards cannot simply be erased and reused.
Easy handling for individual cards and short batches
Load a batch into the 50-card feeder, or insert cards individually for one-off jobs. The front output tray holds 25 cards and the rear hopper holds 50, based on standard 0.76 mm cards. Accessible ribbon loading, an LED control panel and printer-status notifications help staff keep everyday printing moving.
Classic or Expert: choose the connections you need
Classic connects by USB and suits a printer used from a connected computer. Expert adds Ethernet for network use and supports optional encoding modules. Both versions on this page are base printers without an encoder. Choose Expert if network connectivity matters or you need to discuss a future encoding requirement.
Design your cards and manage the printer
ID-ALL Starter Edition is included for creating and printing card designs. Evolis Premium Suite 2 provides printer drivers, settings, assistance and notifications for Windows and macOS. The Expert version also supports mobile printing through Evolis Print Service on compatible Android and iOS devices. Check the supported operating-system version and whether Starter Edition meets your database or integration needs before ordering.
Security options matched to your application
Digital erasing clears sensitive print data from the printer memory. Expert supports optional magnetic-stripe, contact and contactless encoding, plus YMCKOO ribbons for double-overlay protection and a UV effect. These capabilities depend on the installed hardware and consumables; selecting Expert does not include an encoder. The printer supports a Kensington security lock, with the lock purchased separately.
Consumables and ongoing care
Choose ribbons for the exact Zenius 2 version and the cards you intend to print. Regular cleaning helps maintain print quality. The printer carries a three-year manufacturer warranty, subject to Evolis terms, maintenance requirements and the specified consumables. Keep the selected card material, ribbon and thickness matched to the intended print job.
Frequently asked questions
What cards can I use?
Zenius 2 accepts CR80 cards measuring 85.60 × 53.98 mm, with thicknesses from 0.25 to 0.76 mm. PVC, composite PVC and compatible rewritable cards are supported. PET is limited to black monochrome printing, and paper cards require BlackFLEX monochrome ribbon. The thinnest 0.25 mm cards are for monochrome printing only.
Can it print both sides automatically?
No. Zenius 2 is a single-sided printer. If you need automatic printing on both sides, compare the dual-sided Primacy 2 configurations.
Does Expert include smart-card encoding?
No. Expert supports encoding options, but the Classic and Expert variants listed here do not include an encoder. Tell us which cards, access-control system and software you use so we can help identify the required configuration.
Which version supports double overlay and UV effects?
Expert supports the YMCKOO ribbon needed for those features. Classic does not support YMCKOO. Check both the printer version and ribbon reference before purchase.
Is software included?
Yes. The package includes an ID-ALL Starter Edition licence, with Evolis printer-management software available for setup and operation. More advanced database, encoding or integration workflows may need a different software edition or additional configuration.
Can you help me choose the right setup?
Contact Lesar with your expected card volumes, card material, computer setup and any encoding requirements. We can help you choose a version and suitable supplies before you order.
