Use both sides without manually turning each card

The IDP SMART-31D is an automatic dual-sided printer for organisations that need more space on an ID card. Keep the name, photograph and branding on the front and put contact details, instructions or a barcode on the reverse.

Suitable for repeated card runs

Automatic card feeding supports batches of staff, membership or student cards. The printer turns each card as part of the dual-sided workflow, reducing manual handling compared with refeeding a stack through a single-sided printer.

Match the ribbon to your artwork

Choose the correct ribbon for the colour and black printing required on each face. A front-colour/back-black layout has different consumable requirements from full colour on both sides. Lesar can help you select supplies once you have a sample card design.

Choose the connection and encoder you need

Select the standard USB printer, the Ethernet configuration, or an option with a magnetic stripe or contactless/MIFARE encoder. These are distinct configurations: an encoder option does not automatically include Ethernet or a second encoder. Confirm your card technology and access-system requirements before ordering; printing a badge alone does not activate an access credential.

Design your cards before the first print run

IDP provides SMART IDesigner for card layout and issuance. It supports photographs, text and barcodes so you can build a consistent design for your organisation. Check the software and driver requirements for the computer you will use; specialist database or encoding work may need additional configuration.

Add a visual check to your cards

SmartMark lets you customise the clear overlay with a design, text or logo. UV printing is a separate capability requiring a compatible UV-panel ribbon and a UV light for inspection. Choose the ribbon for the effect you need; a standard colour ribbon does not automatically provide UV printing.

Are cards and ribbons included? This is a printer-only listing; order compatible cards and ribbon separately. Can it print an access card? The card must have a suitable flat, printable surface and match the printer’s material and thickness requirements. For cards with uneven surfaces or embedded technology, ask Lesar to check the card first or consider a retransfer printer.
