Control access to cards and used ribbon

This lockable SMART-51 package adds an input-hopper lock, ribbon lock and Kensington lock to the card-printing workflow. It helps limit physical access to blank cards and used ribbon when the printer is unattended, making it useful where printed personal information needs careful handling.

Clear status information and convenient handling

The front LCD shows printer status, helping operators respond to routine tasks. Front card handling and a drop-in ribbon cartridge make loading and consumable changes straightforward. The metal frame is designed for dependable day-to-day use.

Manage larger batches

The input hopper can accept an extended stack with the cover open. Plan the card run around the available output capacity and keep suitable supplies to hand. Detailed capacities and separate single- and dual-sided print speeds appear in the specifications tab.

Choose your printing and encoding configuration

Select single- or dual-sided printing, with the option of a magnetic stripe or contactless/MIFARE encoder. The standard option has no encoder; Ethernet is not specified in these packages. Confirm credential compatibility before ordering an encoded configuration.

Design your cards before the first print run

IDP provides SMART IDesigner for card layout and issuance. It supports photographs, text and barcodes so you can build a consistent design for your organisation. Check the software and driver requirements for the computer you will use; specialist database or encoding work may need additional configuration.

Add a visual check to your cards

SmartMark lets you customise the clear overlay with a design, text or logo. UV printing is a separate capability requiring a compatible UV-panel ribbon and a UV light for inspection. Choose the ribbon for the effect you need; a standard colour ribbon does not automatically provide UV printing.

Are cards and ribbons included? This is a printer-only listing; order compatible cards and ribbon separately. Can it print an access card? The card must have a suitable flat, printable surface and match the printer’s material and thickness requirements. For cards with uneven surfaces or embedded technology, ask Lesar to check the card first or consider a retransfer printer.

Security as part of your process

The old catalogue called this the GDPR model. Physical locks can support secure handling, but buying a printer does not establish legal compliance. Control who can issue cards, store personal data appropriately and dispose of used ribbons securely.
