Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the printer include any cards or ribbons to get started?

A: No. Any accessories such as printer ribbons or blank plastic cards are not included and will have to be bought separately from our website.

Q: Are there any printer training videos available?

A: Please check our "How to videos" for more information.

Q: The ribbon snapped, can I still use it?

A: You can connect snapped ribbons together using sticky tape and use the connected ribbon again. Refer to the SMART printer user manual for more information.

Q: Cannot turn on the smart printer using the LED Button?

A: Check the main power switch on the backside of the SMART printer (Press the switch "|").

The Smart 31 P-IA-651460 is one of the latest releases in the IDP range of ID Card Printers and it replaces one of the best selling printers in the UK, the Smart 30. If you are looking for an easy to use plastic card printer then the Smart 31 is the choice for you. Simply plug in the USB, power and install the printer drivers with the step by step software and your setup. Once set up, add your blank plastic cards into the 80 card input hopper and you are ready to start printing.

Print Quality

With the capability of printing up to 156 full colour cards per hour and a range of print quality including 300dpi (colour and monochrome), 600dpi (monochrome only) and 1200 dpi (monochrome only) edge to edge printing, the Smart 31d is a perfect choice for printing all kinds of plastic card designs such as staff id cards, gift cards, loyalty cards and membership cards.

Security

Worried about your cards getting duplicated? IDP has added two new security features to the Smart 31, that makes this difficult at no extra cost with SmartMark. SmartMark allows you to print a visible but transparent overlay panel over the top of your cards. It's highly customisable with the option to include text, pictures and brand logos. The Smart 31 is also capable of UV printing allowing you to print an image on your cards in a UV ink which is only visible under a UV light.

The combination of both SmartMark and UV printing reduces the chances of your cards being easily duplicated.
